Research and Development Discovering better species
We believe in research and development and have invested resources in developing methods for tree improvement, breeding, nursery propagation, growth monitoring, and silvicultural operations including fertilizer trials and pest and disease control studies for our plantations in New Zealand and Sarawak.
All this enables us to find the most appropriate species for reforestation, providing us with a selection of bred trees that have superior qualities in terms of wood quality, form, volume and resistance to disease.
We also experiment with cloning techniques to produce better seedlings and are currently identifying proven species which have good genetic properties to broaden our species diversification pool.
Product Development
We were the first to introduce the Baromalli species, as plywood, upgrading the commercial value of wood species in Guyana, which are more commonly sold as logs or sawn timber.
We continue to research on the species in Guyana to explore other suitable application for them. We have recently identified a new and suitable species for decking, our new range of products. The species used is Greenheart. |
