Reforestation and Replanting Enhancing forest productivity
Samling manages plantations in New Zealand and is in the process of nurturing plantations in Sarawak, Malaysia.
Sarawak
In Sarawak, we operate nurseries to develop plantations in degraded land in order to regenerate forests. We plant mainly acacia which matures in 10 years, and also other exotic species such as rubber and khaya. These nurseries are expected to have an abundant annual seedlings capacity and will enhance the health of the forest. Before replanting activities, we use only the most sensitive ways to clear the land. This involves carrying out low impact clearing techniques using yarder and excavator spreading of the remaining trees on the degraded land.

New Zealand
Our plantation in New Zealand is a maturing planted forest which is already capable of providing a source of wood for customers. We plant mainly Radiata pine, a particularly versatile species which has a variety of uses including as veneer, sawn timber, fiberboards, and pulp and paper.
