Working hand-in-hand with nature
As part of our everyday operations, we try to ensure harvesting operations are planned and conducted efficiently with minimal damage to residual stands and the surrounding areas. This involves:
- Maintaining river buffer zones
- Identifying water catchment areas
- Identify road construction practices that minimise impact
- Working with suppliers to develop ground harvesting vehicles that minimize impact
- Use of helicopter harvesting for sensitive terrain
- Establishing certain areas to study the growth rate of trees and silvicultural treatment to plant trees as a way to rehabilitate the forest.
We also encourage research in our concession areas to find better methods of forest and environmental management.
